Custom regulation and checking are very strict in South Africa. Certain things are only allowed to taken into the country without any custom duty. And the restricted things are collected in the checking by the officers.
The following things are allowed to be imported into South Africa by the travelers who are 18 year and above.
- 50ml perfume
- 250ml of eau de toilette
- 200 cigarettes
- 50 cigars
- 250g tobacco
- 21 of wine
- 11 of liquor
- Goods that are value up to ZAR3000
- And goods between ZAR3000 and R12,000 are charged 20% of duty.
Restricted Items
The restricted items are:
- Plants and its material which do not have import permit
- Margarine
- Honey
- Vegetable oils
Prohibited Imports
The banned things are:
- Narcotics
- Flick knives
- Ammunition
- Explosives
- Meat
- Cheese
- Dairy products
- Obscene literature
- Fire wood
