SOWETO – Orlando Pirates claimed three crucial points with a 2 – 1 victory over SuperSport United in a DStv Premiership clash on Saturday evening at the Orlando Stadium in Soweto.

It was SuperSport United who opened the scoring through Teboho Mokoena in the sixth minute to set the tone for the game in a rainy Orlando.

The game went into the break with away side leading.

Pirates came back stronger and it was Zakhele Lepasa who was fouled and got up to convert the spot kick in the 51st minute, in what was a confidence booster for the Buccaneers.

The comeback was complete with The Ghosts stealing it at the death with Tshegofatso Mabasa netting the winner to make sure that the three points stay at the Orlando Stadium.

SuperSport United Kaitano Thembo felt they didn’t deserve to lose.
“We started very well and played effective football by denying them transition. I don’t think we deserved to lose but we’ll soldier on.”

It was not easy, SuperSport is a tough team but I think we dominated the game. In second half we started playing more forward and it paid off.”

SuperSport United will again be on the road in the next game when they play Maritzburg United at the Harry Gwala Stadium on Friday while Orlando Pirates will welcome Baroka to the Orlando Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
