PRETORIA – Themba Zwane netted a 11 – minute hat trick to inspire Mamelodi Sundowns to a narrow 4 – 3 victory over AmaZulu in a DSTV Premiership encounter at the Loftus Verfeld Stadium in Pretoria on Sunday afternoon.

The Brazilians got off in the back foot when Lehlogonolo Majoro capitalised on a rare mistake from the Sundowns defence to open the scoring for the away side. 

The lead only lasted for a period of four minutes as Themba Zwane drew level for Sundowns in the 19th minute with a bullet strike.

The player of the season netted his brace just two minutes later with a terrific goal to give Sundowns the lead.

Zwane was not done as he completed his hat trick in the 30th minute to give the home as 2 goal least heading into the interval.

Early in the second half, AmaZulu were handed a penalty and Luvuyo Memela’s was tasked with the responsibility. Memela initially missed as it was saved by Dennis Onyango but he managed to convert the rebound to reduce the deficit.

Prolific Peter Shalulile got into the thick of things when he headed Sundowns third to restore the two goal lead before AmaZulu got the their third as they tried to level matters.

The home side managed to protect their lead and take all three points and return to the top of the DStv Premiership log.
